ROSE SILVER TREES

We are connected to all living things, we are reliant as a species on the beautiful, magnificent, varied trees in our landscapes. We are in in the throes of such a delicate balance of flourishing or diminishing.

 

 I have used the circle as a window that looks through a concentric band of circles deep into the heart of the wood, The bands representative of life and time passing lead us to a mystical and thought provoking place. 

 

Variegated metal leaf, silver leaf coloured pink and Aluminium leaf create the bands of life. The metal leaf provides a reflective colourful surface that changes with light and positioning. Metal leaf/ metallic substances that have been extracted from the earth—- Precious metals. Precious Life.

Not long before Covid, early 2020, I began working on a series which explores information with  a concealed layer of history.

 DNA; design blocks that connect us to all living things, I was especially interested in the phylogenetic tree diagram, which refers to the evolution of all species. 

Visually representing how life on the planet is related, presenting a timeline for the evolutionary history of organisms.

 

I have used the tree as metaphor.

 

We are connected to all living things, we are reliant as a species on nature and we are recently reminded that we are reliant on each other.
